Adriana Marcela is an artist originally from Bogotá, Colombia, born in 1982. She has a diverse educational background, including a BA in Industrial Design with a Minor in Fashion Design. Her academic journey took her to the Escuela de Artes Plásticas y Diseño in Puerto Rico, where she studied from 2009 to 2013. Adriana has spent a significant portion of her life in Puerto Rico, living there for 21 years, and has more recently made Austin her home for the past 7 years.
Adriana’s artistic style can be described as Abstract Sculptural Painting. She uses heavy applications of paint along with other materials to create artwork that features palpable and powerful textures. Her work is designed to provoke curiosity and captivate the viewer’s imagination. It’s an experience that transcends the limitations of a picture; one must see it in person to fully appreciate its depth.
Adriana’s artistic inspiration is drawn from her need to create and seek balance and harmony through art. Additionally, she finds inspiration in the realms of interior design and design in general. Her approach to art is a unique blend of gestural and rational techniques in applying materials to the canvas, avoiding the emotional, and allowing viewers to derive their own meaning from her work.
